French painter of Greek origin born in Cairo in 1917, Constantin MACRIS came to Paris in 1948.
In 1954, he was taken under contract by Pierre Loeb. Exhibitions at the Galerie Pierre (Paris) and then at the Galerie Albert Loeb (New York) contributed to make his work widely known. His name remained associated with this period.
When Galerie Pierre closed in 1963, MACRIS was already on a new path. In order to pursue his artistic research independently, he decided not to link up with another gallery. He worked on this project twenty years until his death in 1984.

His career is presented here, with particular attention to the last period, which remains to be discovered.
